“He stole my breath, my reason, and my inhibitions with every stroke of his tongue…”
Don’t let this book deceive you. From its mild cover to its somewhat petite size (less than 200 pages), this book DELIVERS with an opposites attract, fake dating tale.
It’s part one of two and I wasted no time diving into the second book.
After listening to Girl in Luv, I wanted to finish the duet before reviewing since they were both so short. This is my first foray into Rebecca Yarros’ non-fantasy work and I really loved these 2 short books that she wrote with Jay Crownover! The characters were well developed despite the short length of the books, and the plot was engaging throughout both books. I’m always a big fan of “class gaps” in romance books because it just makes me feel optimistic about people looking past things like money or lack thereof, or status and lack thereof. Overall really enjoyed these 2 short books!
This story was so fun and boy did that ending hurt. Fortunately, I discovered this story when the sequel was readily available. So I could easily pick up my pieces.
This man says all the right things and the way he protects her right from the beginning is perfect. Fists, lips, words. He knows exactly what is needed.
“You didn’t just throw Langley to the wolves, you moved them into her home and expected her to figure out how to fight them on her own.”
Right now, you’re asleep in that bed, naked, and warm, and so damned soft. All I want is to climb back in next to you and stay. Langley, despite all the odds, all I want is to stay. I hope you believe that. This week—last night. I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forget you.
Call this what it is. What it was. An eclipse. A comet. Whatever. Something raw and rare that only comes around once in a lifetime that changes you—and then leaves.
Then I closed the door and locked my heart, all in the same turn of a handle.
Her message was short and sweet. Langley: I’m really mad at you, but I still want you to stay safe. Take care of yourself, Iker.

Cute, could have been longer to build more connection.
Ending... would have been terrible if I didn't know there was a second book. I read for fantasy not reality.

3.5⭐️ Decent read, short and sweet. It does have a couple open door scenes. There is a fake dating trope, and while it’s pretty cliché, it was fine. I like the premise in book 1 more than book 2. Predictable, but ok.
