☆ Urban fantasy
☆ Slow burn
☆ Chosen one
☆ Enemies to lovers
☆ Reluctant allies
The banter in these books is truly top tier. I’m loving the tension and the build up to the spice. Jericho Barrons is such a unique MMC. Sometimes I wonder if he might be a villain, but then he saves the FMC and calls her Mac instead of his usual "Ms. Lane," and my heart melts for this broody man.
I can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes. The ending wasn’t exactly a cliffhanger, but the story is intriguing enough to keep me hooked. The FMC felt a bit naive in book one, yet she’s already showing real growth here, which makes me much more invested.

I don't get off on danger. I get off on a man with strong moral fiber. The closest Barrons ever gets to fiber is walking down the cereal aisle at the grocery store.
I looked away, but my eyes didn't. My central nervous system was currently serving another master and had no interest in will. Will? What was will? Papers you signed in case you died, that was it. Nothing to do with my current situation.
Maybe we do come with an instruction booklet but we're too dense to read it because we've dismissed it as the irrational waste product of the rational" mind.
One day you will kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence.
Even I don't know what you're doing, and I know everything.

The second installment in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series sees MacKayla Lane (Mac)still searching for the Sinsar Dubh- the million year old book that has all kinds of Unseelie knowledge, and other Fae objects of power. Mac has grudgingly come to accept the help of Barrons and V'Lane, but can the enigmatic man or the fae prince really be trusted?
The Fever series tells the story of MacKayla Lane, a Southern belle, whose sister is murdered in Ireland.
The series is designed to be read as a cohesive whole, the books do not stand alone. In fact, several of them end on cliffhanger endings (which is murderous on the patience of those of us who waited over a year to read the last in the series).
Moning's writing is well done, her descriptions beautifully painted. The story is easy to read so long as you don't skim- skimming means you'll miss something :)

I'm really behind on this series, I guess everybody's read it but me, so my review won't be long.
I'll just say that it's sooooooo good that even if I planned on reading one book per month, the next one will have to come up sooner because I just can't wait ! I just refrained on purchasing it and get to it right away because I want to make the pleasure last as long as possible :) But it's hard...

I'm obsessed with this series. Just ordered the next three books.
