Okay, this series is kinda addictive. It's fast paced with an intriguing and mysterious plot, awesome and immersive world building and interesting characters with hidden agendas. It's also great to see that the main character has developed a lot from the start of the series and I really like her now.
But this book is also kinda problematic? The "romances" in this series are Twilight-level toxic. We're talking possessive relationships with a massive power imbalance. Both Jericho and V'lane do things to Mac against her will and it's not great to read. This book is also quite gory at times and there is one scene in particular that made me feel so uncomfortable and gross that I had to put the book down for a while .
This book is gripping and I am honestly tearing through this series at breakneck speed, but I can't overlook the toxic romances that I'd probably have thought nothing of in 2007 when I was normalised to abusive YA relationships, but now they just set alarm bells ringing.

that was… a lot.
i hope we get an idea of what happens when mac disappears, other than the unseelie taxi drivers. there should be a lot more uproar when someone disappears for a month, or even a weekend. the inspector didn’t even confront her. it’s like everyone, including the lord master is just waiting for her to come back.
and what does barrons do all the time? other than beat people up and “research”
i will be continuing in hopes of getting more answers.
