Doughty’s books just slap every time. So intriguing, so we’ll organized, so funny, and so informational all at once.

I especially liked the Bolivia and North Carolina chapters, but i cried the entirety of the Mexico chapter and it remains my favorite by far.

I had no idea that recomposing was being worked on and I hope desperately Im allowed to go like that. the anonymity would be so peaceful i think.

Caitlin Doughty is trying to change America's death industry, arguing that our distance from the whole process doesn't allow us to accept or grieve the loss. In this book, she does this by writing about death practices in places around the world, showing that our way is not the only way (and that what might seem macabre is potentially healing).

I will read anything she writes. I'm on board for her central argument, her humor, and her writing style,. This was a world tour of an issue I don't think much about, but find fascinating once we get started.
