This series continues to be a guilty pleasure. It's not quite literature but it's not quite low-brow swill either.

It's a more lewd and less ethereal Sandman, and I guess I mean that in a good way. Some truly funny moments in this particular volume. I've already purchased the next two.

As a side note - these volumes look and handle great in hardcover. Happy to have them on the shelf.

Really wasn’t a fan of the opening series to this one. The origin story of the Saint of Killers was a nice one to know but a bit dull and the script ran that same old-timey way that crimson pirate did Watchmen Omnibus. Just makes for tedious and hard to read stuff. The novel picked up midway through with the return of Arseface and then a slightly mediocre end in a voodoo themed edition. Did enjoy the intro of some tension between the group with Cass’s admissions and look forward to seeing how the love triangle turns out.

Now that it's the Preacher I know and love.
This book starts a little slow in the history of the Saint of Killers. Then Cassidy finds another vampire with a ... cult.
It's the same irreverent fun with many lols to be had. Way better than book two!

This book takes a beat to focus on character origin stories and is all the better for it. It gives depth to some of the series' most mysterious characters and is a hell of a ride.

I had almost forgotten how cutting not only the Saint's origin is, but just how much it hurts to see Cassidy act the way he does after the preceding issues.

On a lighter note, I snickered at the Neil Gaiman parody. Definitely didn't catch that the first time.
