Nearly 18 years after I watched the anime series, I can put the Evangelion saga to rest. I have outgrown young adult Anime but this series had never provided a satisfactory conclusion, so the itch to watch it again was still there, if not the desire. The manga is a reasonable middle ground. It seems to tread similar territory in it’s ending as the “End of Evangelion” movie, eschewing the nonsense of the last two episodes of the series. Everything makes sense now, or as much sense as it ever could and I can put this saga out of mind for good.
HOW ON EARTH DID YOU COME UP WITH A SATISFYING ENDING FOR A CONCEPT THAT IS SO DARK?!
I am so conflicted as to whether I prefer the manga or the anime ending because I've associated evangelion with the most blunt ending ever, which makes it hit harder - this was not what I expected. All in all, I appreciate it both ways. Neon Genesis Evangelion is so complex and has taught me a lot about loneliness. This series is one of my all-time favourites.
