I think this is a book that should be mandatory reading for teens in HS.

DNF at 26%. Just couldn't get into it which is disappointing because I LOVED The Problem with Forever.

I like how raw the story is. However, I REALLY disliked some characters because they were super harsh on Lena while she dealt with so much grief.

It is a simple story, but sometimes the most simplest stories are heavy. There wasn't an outright new world to discover, there wasn't any insane plotlines piling onto each other. No, it was just a simple story that can occur on an everyday basis and that people gloss over because of how often it's heard of.

Yet not many of us really dealt with what Lena does, not many of us really had to. It was heart-wrenching, because when you read this, you just...realise how in a flick of a finger, it can feel like the entire ground got yanked from under your feet.

This is about dealing and healing, about accepting and coming to terms with accidents and incidents that hurt you deeply. I really liked reading this, because of how insanely real it is.

Highschool kids being highschool kids, and unexpectedly dealing with lessons of life.

That being said - again, a really wonderful love interest, who I came to love. I just wish that the book had been longer so I could enjoy him and the romance more. I like the aspect of the romance and what it meant to Lena especially, because no matter what: we deserve happiness.

[if you haven't noticed by now, I'm starting to binge read JLA's books LOL, I kinda really like her stuff]

This was such a happy surprise! I've heard mixed reviews on JLA works from booktube. I even had the opportunity to grab this ARC at Book Con last year and decided it wasn't something I needed. What I loved most about this story was how very real the protagonist felt. I felt her sadness and greif, her guilt and the heaviness she carried after the tragic accident she was involved in. The love story was sweet, but not the main focus - which felt believable. I really related to this character and maybe that's why I loved this story so much. I am now looking to read more from JLA after reading this heartbreaking, yet empowering story of grief and finding the strength to continue on. If I had to find a flaw, I might point to the stroyline with the protagonist's father. Although I feel it could have been developed more so that I would be more invested in their relationship, that lack of depth did not detract from my enjoyment or immersion in this narrative.

This is actually just the second book of Jennifer Almentrout that I've read. The other one being The Problem with Forever. I could say that I like her a LOT.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I really love books that are raw and real. I have cried a few times while reading this because it was just heartbreaking. The things and events that happened in the book are real. They happen in real life and it is really shitty. The pain and the guilt. Bad decisions. Peer pressure. Young love. Death. All of these are real and I love they were incorporated in this book.

Truly remarkable. 👏

2.5 stars A bit predictable, a bit cliched, but nothing particularly awful about it. It's better than [b:The Problem with Forever|26721568|The Problem with Forever|Jennifer L. I wasn't really feeling the romance, which didn't help, and although there were some good bits about dealing with survivor's guilt and moving on from trauma, I have seen other books deal with these in a more impactful way.
