Very beautiful ending, Tasha Suri is so talented and I can’t wait to read more of her work. I just love this trilogy so deeply

I’m really sad I didn’t enjoy this more, because I loved the first two installments in this trilogy. I had even reread the first two books, so the story was fresh in my mind, yet I struggled to get through The Lotus Empire, it took me more than two months to finish it.

The pacing was inconsistent throughout the novel, I didn’t feel a sense of urgency for most of the book, and the multiple POVs didn’t help. I wish the story had only focused on Priya, Malini and Bhumika, I didn’t care for the other POVs. This book also involved a lot of traveling, yet it felt like characters were teleporting from place to place, which made it even harder to wrap my head around what was going on. I liked the ending enough, but most of the book wasn’t memorable.

This trilogy started out very strong, but I was extremely disappointed with the last book and the ending. After the first two novels were so strong, the world building and characters so full of tension, it just fizzled out. It felt sloppy, disconnected and rushed.

i loved this book better than oleander sword & WAY better than jasmine throne.
loved the yaksa gaining mortality & how they slowly gained flesh & lost green. i wish there was a little more exploration, though, of the yaksa’s mental & emotional reactions to that newfound mortality—without it, them willingly walking into the fire seemed a bit abrupt & out of character.
i loved all the different storylines Suri had going on at the same time—the suspense was expertly done & i was always so interested in each storyline every time it was transferred away or back again.
SO happy that rao is gay & gets to live out the lavender marriage of his dreams with sima.
i honestly wanted more of rao’s dwarali arc with sima, & more of bhumika & jeevan’s travel, too, but i know 498 pages is already so long.
i love love priya’s kindness & sacrifice & the ending was beautiful & im so happy about it.
Suri’s characterization is incredible & i found myself rooting for the antagonists because of how complex they were—in fact, im not sure if i could tell you who was really wrong or right, or if anyone was, & i love that
