I enjoyed this story and found the writing quite atmospheric.

The language was of course rather floral. Nice change from what I've been reading. A bit too melodramatic for me. Frankenstein had a very hard lesson to learn.

1. Why does Victor keep talking about getting into "mortal struggles" with the creature he can't seriously think he could win in a fight

2. They really just left Ernest hanging there, huh

3. Does anyone know who I need to call to adopt the creature

A lovely though sad read perfect for spooky season. I can’t help but feel bad for Frankenstein’s monster and desire yet inability to connect with others because of his appearance. I think it’s an excellent lesson in not judging others by their appearance since the “monster” is so eloquent and kind before becoming monstrous because that’s how he has been treated by others including his own creator. I think it’s a profound treatise on the idea that if you treat someone horribly based of preconceived ideas then they’ll become horrible because of this treatment. Dr Frankenstein got what was coming to him in the end at least.

Re-reading this story it surprised me how unsympathetic Victor Frankenstein was. His poor creature is emotionally and verbally abused by him and Victor feels he has done nothing wrong. My heart went out to the creature was was forced into a bad situation which led to him making bad choices. A little compassion would have lead to a much smaller loss of life. If anyone is the "Monster" it is Victor.

Beautiful prose and setting. Victor Frankenstein is a lil bitch. Walton says to the monster "you throw a torch into a pile of buildings; and even they are consumed you sit among the ruins and lament the fall." This is VF through and through...
