I listened to this as an audiobook and it was one of the easiest books ive ever listened to. The content is interesting and the shorter length of the essays kept the pace going. I love John Greens voice which also made it really good to listen to.
I didnt really know what this book was about going in but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. John Green has a skill of making any topic interesting and a lot of heart went into these essays, making me almost unable to stop listening. I give this book 4 stars.

It’s funny bc I started this book multiple times and stopped for various reasons, but when I picked it up this month I really feel like this book found me at just the right time. I really just love John Green’s narration and tone and just how he speaks about the world; it’s refreshing. When I originally added this book to my TBR I thought it was about humans’ environmental impact on the planet, but whoops I was wrong, but that’s ok, I still loved it- I feel like we have similar ways of thinking about the world which is really cool. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is bc our opinions on Disney World differ slightly🤣, but I still really appreciated that essay.

First of all, it feels funny to write a review about a book of reviews, but I will anyways. Everyone should read this book. It manages to take you back to a child like curiosity of trying to learn about everything you encounter, but with the maturity of an adult trying to make sense of the world. It so perfectly encapsulates being human somehow by reviewing things like hot dog eating competitions and Mario Kart and specific soccer games. I feel like the way John Greens mind explains things about the Anthropocene is how I would like to know about the world and connect the pieces together. Genuinely was about to cry so many different times and I can’t remember the last nonfiction book to do that to me. I think this will truly change the way I think and process the world around me! Read this book!

How is this book so depressing and so hopeful at the same time? I don't even know how to deal with the feelings. I'm feeling about it. Sometimes feels a little dated because he makes a lot of references to covid lockdown, but it's easy to look past because of all of the things he's reviewing. Not very many of them actually have to do with covid. I found myself moved to tears literally multiple times through this book. I listen to the audio because it had three extra essays, but I think I will be buying the physical copy of this book for myself. It was so good! Highly recommend.
