An interesting read, being able to see into the private thoughts and life of Alan Rickman was an honour. I feel like I've seen deeper into the world of a very talented, intelligent, and feeling man. What a sad yet beautiful end to a wonderful life.
On an unrelated note the edition I was reading felt really good to hold in my hands, which has no bearing on the rating of the book but deserved to be noted.

When I think over what I’ve just finished reading - lunches, dinners, parties, show diaries - it’s amazing that it was ever as compelling as it eventually became.
He comes across as very sensitive and never anything less than passionate about work. He gives everything, and thinks so much about everything - even the money jobs.

It takes a minute to get into the mindset of the diary, but hang in there and you’ll soon be laughing a smirking.
Like watching a life whiz by through a kaleidoscope of blacked out moments. Compelling and curious.

Quite interesting, but a little tricky to read. They are diary entries, after all, and the editor did not change his words extensively. Therefore, they include lots of references to people and places and events that were self evident to the author, but for me required a lot of flipping back to previous entries, if I wanted to understand what was going on. I did really enjoy meeting so many of his fellow actors from the Harry Potter series before the Harry Potter books had even been written.
i didn't originally plan to rate this book, but i experienced so many different emotions while reading it that just couldn’t imagine not giving it 5 stars then.
yes, in parts probably edited, but overall such sincere and raw diaries. as a big fan of Alan Rickman, it's hard to describe how much i enjoyed reading this, how versatile, smart and talented he was. and as someone interested in the film and theater industry - incredibly interesting insights and names dropping as well.
Rickman was truly a great person, sincere, one of a kind. and the last part and the afterwords brought me to tears, obviously.

I kinda wish everybody kept a diary like this. I really got a feel for the bones of AR and what pulled him down and kept him afloat.
