I'm not sure how to taste this because it's just a collection of notes. Years of them. Doesn't seem like it was meant to be published. I just skipped to the years I was interested in.

I was hoping for more reflective journal entries or essays, but this more or less seemed like a calendar  and record-keeping book. It seems odd now having read it, I don’t think it was intended for an external audience.
informative slow-paced

I’ve been so excited to read this and get more insight into Alan Rickman’s life. I loved him in HP, Robin Hood, and Sense & Sensibility. Reading this, I realized he’s in so many more movies that I need to see!

Reading his diaries felt a little odd, but I’ve heard that he meant to use these to write a memoir or at least wanted these diaries to be published. For the record, when I die I want all of my stuff burned. 😅
There were some odd moments like his writing during Dark Harbor. A lot of the entries felt cryptic and short handed. It was also odd to see entries where he met celebrities that have since had allegations against them of SA, not to mention his love for Lord Voldemort (Jo Rowling).
A lot of the entries were about his frustrations on set of different movies and going out to dinner or to funerals. Nothing too exciting.

I tandem read this with my physical copy and the audio, and the audio was very good. Overall this was interesting but not the most exciting.

Not an easy casual read, but deeply worthy of the effort. A concisely poetic list of moments from his life and so human. Highly recommend the audiobook!

Asi mi úplně nevyhovuje deníkový formát, když neznám celý kontext života, ale jinak zajímavé!

I was gifted this book for Christmas, and thought I'd try the audiobook version of it, but oh my GOD it's so boring. I understand why they decided to edit and publish Alan Rickman's diaries, as he was a very well known and beloved actor, but he was clearly writing these diaries for himself and not in order to entertain people or for publication. They're just not interesting to read at all, sadly.

Maybe at some point I'll pick up the physical book and skim through it and see if there's anything interesting about his time in well known projects like Sense & Sensibility, Love Actually, and Harry Potter, but I probably won't bother tbh.
