4.21 is a damn good rating from that many ratings. I don't know if I understand all the gushing. I expected a lot more. It was cute, but I wasn't peeing my pants from laughing. This one was just OK for me.
5 stars for the excellent narration by Sebastian York... 4 stars for the story.
Drew Evans has it all. Handsome and wealthy, he's a highly successful investment banker who pretty much lives and breathes work, and doesn't have time for much of a personal life. He doesn't do relationships -his encounters with women are numerous, but they're hook-ups and he's not exactly the discerning kind as long as the woman is willing and hot.
Kate Brooks just landed a job at Drew's firm. She's beautiful, clever and engaged to her childhood sweetheart - and that, plus the fact that Drew has a rule about not mixing business with pleasure, should make her firmly off limits. But Kate is different. For one thing, she's about the only woman he's ever shown interest in who doesn't respond to his obvious charms. For another, he hasn't been as strongly attracted to a woman as he is to Kate before, and it drives him nuts.
Both of them are incredibly competitive at work, and the account of their rivalry and attempts at oneupmanship are funny - but after Drew pulls his knight in shining armour stunt for Kate's sake when a prospective client turns out to be a sexist pig, things change between them. But Drew, being Drew, manages to screw up big-time and, for the first time in his life, has to work to get what he wants.
I can understand why there have been some mixed reactions to this book because Drew is such a dickhead for a lot of it - yet somehow, he manages to be endearingly honest and utterly hilarious - I laughed out loud several times while listening and that doesn't happen often. The story is told completely from his PoV and here is where whoever cast the audiobook version deserves a bonus, because nobody does the guy-centric Rom Com like Sebastian York. His comic timing is impeccable and the way he delivers Drew's funny, sometimes disturbing (!) insights into the male psyche and his sarcastic, sometimes juvenile pronouncements is utterly perfect. All the other aspects of his performance - pacing, differentiation etc. are excellent, although I couldn't work out what accent he was trying to give the nun (yes, she's really a nun - a former teacher at the Catholic school Drew went to as a kid!).
This is probably not a book I'd have picked up in print, but the audio is terrific and is one I'm sure I'll revisit. It's sexy and funny and Sebastian York is the icing on the cake.

Spoiler
I was a little uncomfortable with his determined pursuit of Kate in the latter part of the book because it borders on the creepy - he even sends her a note at one point saying she's turning him into a stalker - but this is a guy who has no idea what to do about the fact that he's fallen in love for the first time in his life and the woman he loves is shutting him out. It doesn't make his behaviour okay... but it makes it understandable, I suppose.I can understand why there have been some mixed reactions to this book because Drew is such a dickhead for a lot of it - yet somehow, he manages to be endearingly honest and utterly hilarious - I laughed out loud several times while listening and that doesn't happen often. A Resounding 4.5 STARS!!!
Once upon a time there was a prince. He had everything --- parents, money and women. He was spoiled. So when a woman rejects him, its game on!!!
And there was a beautiful princess - or was she a commoner? It doesn't matter. She enters the palace and wins the king's heart. And the prince's hate.
So, we have a prince and a semi-princess. So who's the villain? Is it the princess' beau of eleven years or is it that ancient enemy of man - flu?
Will they ever forgive each other and live happily ever after?
I absolutely loved this book. And as for the above dramatisation, well Drew compelled me to write that.
What's not to love about this book? You have cocky, arrogant Drew who considers himself to be God's gift to women and "doesn't ride the same coaster twice". And then there is Kate - who shows Drew that he is no gift, but is a curse on all of decency. And, most importantly, the flu. And there is also The Bitch and Bad-Word-Jar-Holder Mackenzie.
This novel is a story told by Drew, in his own words as he sees it frankly, as he stays holed up in his apartment, due to a flu.
But we know he doesn't have the flu.
This is one brilliant, totally-laugh-out-until-you-get-stitches-on-your-sides story. The vocabulary was used in a great way and the comparisons---well they are simply hilarious.
It was interesting to know what goes around a guy's head. Though I hope that in real life, a guy's thoughts isn't that much...well, you know.
Happy reading, folks!

TANGLED by Emma Chase was an entertaining read. I liked both Drew and Kate's characters and their relationship, but my favorite two people to read about was the few Drew and Mackenzie encounters!
In almost every review I read before picking TANGLED up it said that they laughed out loud or found the book funny from beginning to end. I didn't find it that funny, it wasn't serious or anything, but I found it more fun than funny!
If you're looking for an easy and fast New Adult book, you should check TANGLED out!

I had been planning on reading the book since last year and i gotta say, I am disappointed in myself for not picking up the book as fast as i should have. I mean the cover should have told me a lot and if that was not enough the fact that Emma is the author should have made up my mind.
Never enjoyed reading a book so much.....Why am i lying? Okay, I loved every moment of it like many other Emma's books. Drew was so funny and his character was well written...It feels like he deserves five more stars . I don't think I have ever read a book that is in a male's point of view so fast in because of how much i loved it.
The guy has the best sense of humor. He had been childish and spoiled which he doesn't deny. In fact he is so proud of it which leads him to chasing the girl of his dreams. I wanted to clap him on his back for that. I love how the story flows and how its told. I loved how persistent he was....Did I mention I love him? Well I do.

This was really cute, funny and above all; hot.
I liked that the narrator, or protagonist Drew Evans, often seems to be talking to us, the readers. He 'tells it like it is' and is unapolagetic and straightforward in his narration. Trying to give the female readers a little insight in the male thinking process.
Kate Brooks was amazing, I loved her. I thought she was a really strong female character. I liked how she really made Drew work for her, especially after her own long term relationship which was going nowhere.
All the other characters were unique and funny as well. I had a great time reading this.

I really really love this book. :) Male POV is not new to my palate but reading this book feels like the very first time I've tasted ice cream, the taste and the feeling leaves me wanting more. :)
