Was this Twific? Because, sweet baby jesus, this is awful.

Pretty funny book, had a good time reading it. But more of a brainless kind of book; needed a break from saving-the-world dystopian books

Quite possibly one of the best books I've ever read! Hilarious (like, laugh out loud, husband giving you weird looks hilarious) and so hot! I'm in love with Drew! I absolutely love that he is the narrator of his story. I felt like he was talking to me the whole time. Like we were hanging out over a few beers. Kate was also fantastic! I love a kick ass, take no prisoners kind of heroine. If you haven't read this book, you need to. Like, yesterday!

4.5 stars! Ok...I'll be honest. When I was 15% into this book, I didn't care for it. I even thought a couple time I may not even finish the book. BUt I kept reading. Drew is a complete jackass-jerk. I really didn't like his attitude. Then the story became rather predictable. And at that point I was rolling my eyes. Another thing that bothered me early in the book was how the story is told like it's Drew talking to the reader. It bugged me in the beginning. But then the more I read, the less I noticed or cared about that. This story is all in Drew's POV. At 25%, I was really starting to enjoy the story. By the middle of the book, I was so hooked! So this just went to show me, a book that I didn't think was going to be that good in the beginning actually surprised me to be a rather great story. I enjoyed it!

"I'm going to be really clingy and needy for the next few weeks. You should be prepared." -Katherine
"I'm insecure and jealous. It will work out great." -Drew

The thing is - I hate this MMC. I love the FMC and I think she deserves better. But the book is written well. Drew and Katherine meet at a bar. He's looking to pick up a fun time and she knows who he is - the son of the CEO she's just been hired to work for. So he's off limits and she's a threat. He soon figures out there is more to Katherine than meets the eye and the wild ride goes from there. This book is spicy, heartbreaking, and will try to make you believe that a man wh*re can change his ways with the snap of his fingers. Emma Chase may be able to convince you. I'm going to keep reading the series to see if the MMCs get any better. I'm not sorry I read it. This is a 3.5 Stars for me for Drew's redemption arc. I'm still skeptical but he was well written.

"The only mistake here was mine. That I ever thought there was anything more to you. That I actually let myself believe there was anything more to you. That I actually let myself believe there was something beautiful under your cocky charm and big dick attitude. I was wrong." -Katherine

Check out my review at Escape by Fiction!!

written from his pov. he is hysterical. love the real life references and quotes (movies & events).

So, Drew and Kate!
Of course this was not innocent of some quite annoying tropes (namely one: the miscommunication trope) but it was really fun to read. I laughed out loud quite a lot reading from Drew’s know-it-all, incredibly funny perspective so if y’all are into not-so-serious, really laid back romance stories and you don’t mind reading solely from the guy’s perspective (this is an F/M romance), then this is definitely for you.

The protagonist (and narrator) is kind of a jerk throughout. He's pretty insufferable at the beginning of the book, also at the end (when he was relentlessly pursuing the heroine -- I'd have reported him to HR, seriously; he was beyond overbearing). The middle of the book is OK, his transformation is believable, and the sex scenes are well done and very hot. Overall, this novel is funny, steamy, and satisfying, if mildly-to-moderately irritating. The male-only POV is unusual in M/F romance, and writing is pretty strong and fluid, so kudos for those.
