I have read this book 4 time through. I absolutely love this book so much!!
Redeeming Love is one of the most powerful biblical retellings I’ve ever read. Set in 1850s California, it brings to life the story of Hosea and Gomer through Angel—a woman sold into prostitution as a child—and Michael Hosea, a man called by God to marry and love her unconditionally.
[a:Francine Rivers|6492|Francine Rivers|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1358956670p2/6492.jpg] doesn’t shy away from the hard truths. She gets down to the nitty-gritty, showing the trauma, sin, and shame without ever making it feel gratuitous or inappropriate. Unlike some Christian fiction, she tells the full story—raw, honest, and redemptive.
Angel’s journey is painful but beautiful, full of setbacks, grace, and eventually healing that can only come from the One who loves her even more than Michael does. It’s a stunning picture of the relentless love God has for us—no matter how many times we run.
This book doesn’t just tell a love story—it lives out the gospel on every page. Highly recommended for fans of historical fiction, redemptive romance, or anyone who needs a reminder of what grace really looks like.

This book was very twisted and depressing but I still loved it. I can’t wait to have discussions about this book with my book club.
Redeeming Love started off pretty strong. Micheal was very sweet. However, I didn't like the backstory of his father being a slave owner; especially because I know exactly who the Israelites are today. Ifykyk.
Lastly, there were too many variables in this story to make it great. It wasn't strictly a Hosea and Gomer story. Had a sprinkle of other biblical stories woven in. Also, this book did not have to be almost 500 pages, we could've did it in about 200. I mean the original biblical story is 14 very short chapters. Lol
