This is one of my favorite books of all time! Firstly because I am the world's biggest romantic and secondly because it reminds me of God's great love for us :)

one of my favorites; I read it about 5 years ago and plan on reading it agao

Good, easy read. The story really beautifully parallels to God's love for us. It makes it personal. I thought I wouldn't be able to relate much to the story, but more than once found myself challenged.

I actually went into this book thinking I was not going to like it. However, I was very wrong and I am willing to admit that. It was a well-written and wonderful story that drew from the Bible and put a more updated spin on things even though it takes place during the gold rush. I will admit there were more than a few times when I was annoyed by Sarah, but Francine Rivers does such a good job of incorporating her past trauma so you really understand why she does things even though they may seem annoying. Francine definitely did well with the psychology behind her writing, and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone!

Couldn’t get past victim blaming from the Paul and Angel scene.

Amazing story! Loved it!

I loved this book. I was apprehensive at first, as I have been told this was a romance novel. As a man, I generally stick to fantasy snd sci-fi. However this story really struck me. I was riveted.

I'm sure I read Francine's books back in the 90's, but this audio was available at my library so gave it a listen. I thought it was a bit racy for 'Christian' literature, but when I listened to the author notes at the end it make more sense. It was her first book after becoming a Christian and previously had written romance. There's a lot of things to deal with in this book about child trafficking/SA.
