It’s a collection of 11 stories - some of them personal and some about Infosys Foundation and Sudha Murty’s social work as chairperson of that foundation. I knew very little about her as a person and this was the first book written by her that I read. I had heard only positive things about her and I always wanted to read something by her.

What made me pick this book was a forward on WhatsApp. Somebody had shared an excerpt from this book and I loved it so much that I wanted to read the story in its entirety. That story titled Cattle Class was my favorite from this book. She is definitely a bold and intelligent woman, a role model for aspiring women. Will give her other books a try sometime.

I remember seeing her standing in queue with general public to buy tickets at a theatre some 15+ yrs back when I went to a movie with friends. I now wish that I had spoken to her.

One lazy afternoon, while browsing books on my bookshelf, wondering what my first read of the year should be. I picked up this book by Sudha Murty that I bought many years ago but never read. I was looking for a short light read. When I first picked this book, I did not know what I have been blessed with. When I read the first story of this book, still standing near my book shelf, anticipating that I will keep this book bak on my shelf. But nothing of this sort happened, instead my hands clasped this book and my mind was spellbound by Sudha Murty's storytelling skills and her simplistic writing.

This book is a collection of 11 heart-warming and courageous stories. Most of the stories are from the time when she started the Infosys Foundation. One of the stories gives the readers an insight into her life at the foundation. The attribute that makes this book worthwhile and deeply engrossing is the life lessons.

This book made me feel many things and I'm sure that it will make anyone feel multitude of feelings when they read it. This is one of the books that anyone can read easily and will take away someting beatiful from it. If I have to suggest a book to someone who has never read and wants to start, this is THE book. I know that this claim that i just made is dangerous and I am of a strong belief that there is no one book for everyone. But maybe this book can engross a reader while teaching some important things. Rarely you'd get a chance to read such a book and I am grateful that I did.

Three thousand stitches! I usually read all genres of books with special attention to self help! This book does not claim to be a self transformation book or a life changing book. This book subtly helps you to understand your priorities and align them better in order to suit your needs! The simple principles that I came across are fundamental to people from all walks of life and tells you things in a brutally honest way! A must read if you want to revisit how aligned you are with what you wanna become!

3.5/5

Anecdotes from the life of India's well known philanthropist. Her writing is like she's talking directly to the reader, so it was an easy read.
Some of the stories did captivate me.
Some failed to leave an impression.
But as she mentions, each story attempts at unmasking both the beauty and the ugliness of human nature, and that is how I'll remember this book.

Indeed the title is apt for the book. It consists some extraordinary yet simple stories of ordinary people. People should specially read the last chapter which is about alcohol addiction and the role of alcoholics anonymous. As I always say the learnings out of a story are the most powerful way to change human psyche. I hope more people read Sudha murty for some real life stories and anecdotes.
