While this book is explicitly aimed at moms of daughters who are trying to navigate evangelical messaging and avoid the pitfalls and trauma that purity culture wrecked on them, I found it very valuable, even though I only have sons. In fact in some ways, I think "boy moms" and indeed, dads, would benefit from hearing all the ways purity culture fucked up and how the girls, and the women in their life, deserve better, and how proper theology upholds this. Undoing toxic religious messaging is hard. It's so much easier to never teach it in the first place.

I borrowed this one from the Libby Library and ended up loving it enough to purchase a copy of my own. This book touches on topics that I have an intense passion for which is that a woman is just as valuable and her voice matters just as much as anyone else’s. What this book does is challenge the unhealthy and problematic teachings that are prevalent in many churches which serve to reduce a woman’s value and her voice. Recognizing and prioritizing emotional and mental health, understanding that having boundaries is good for you and standing up for yourself are all important ways to keep our girls safe and healthy. In addition they talk about the importance of providing our kids with sex education and teaching them about consent. I could go on and on about this book but those were some of my biggest takeaways! Loved it!
