:DDDD You know what I like about this book? I like that Harriet completely fails to learn her lesson, like she absolutely 100% ends this novel at the same place she started except now she knows that lying is a good way to get your friends to forgive you about stuff.

You know what I dislike about this book? The way Harriet totally fails to learn her lesson, I mean I like opinionated verging on rude girls as much as the next reader but Harriet honey, you were kind of an enormous jerk to your friends, you could have at least been a bit more sincere about that apology.

ole golly was right, sometimes you have to lie!

It doesn’t hold up so well, but what does? Read it to my son and he enjoyed it.

I had to read this for a childrens lit class so let’s get to it.

I don’t understand how this is a popular childrens lit book? As a neurodivergent person I’m taking the people defending this book as largely offensive lmao.

This is a girl who find joy in other peoples pain, has no empathy and doesn’t learn it (shallow apologies), mistreats her family, and end up physically abusing some of her classmates.

This book had no redeeming qualities for me. Had she learnt her lesson and apologized truly to those she hurt, my rating would be completely different. If we had gotten more proof on page that maybe she is just neurodivergent and not malevolent for the sake of it, that would also be a different story.

As it stands, this was painful to read
