4.5 ⭐️ Well. I was right. So many tears. WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?!
Sarah’s writing is so insanely poetic I could read it all damn day!! This book is heartbreaking and Orlaith’s journey HURTS, but is so powerful and raw and real. This series is like nothing I’ve ever read before.
I still have so many questions, but I can confidently say Cainon infuriates me and I absolutely love my dark, mysterious, ruthless man Rhordyn.
Okay time for the next book like now.

It’s so good and I still don’t understand any of it. But I can’t wait to get through the 3rd book!

I don’t think I know how to rate or write a review about a book that emotionally traumatized me but I also couldn’t put it down??? I like the writing style but maybe not a lot of things happening throughout. Not sure if that means I like it or not. It left my brain muddled. The second I finished I had to start the next because I have to see what happens whether I like it or not….
Okay.. picking my jaw up off the floor so I can write this review properly..
I was so happy to see Orlaith following her own path in this book in the beginning. It was hard to make it through the first book with how desperate she was becoming. Finally seeing her take back some power, break out of her shell and make her own decisions (to an extent) helped breathe some much needed fresh air into the otherwise endless pining that the story had become.
With that said, this book truly was a tale in letting those inner demons win. Obviously she struggles with self loathing and the guilt of the past and the demons she battles in the present, but to some extent you feel like that is amplified by her (sometimes brutal) unrequited love from Rhordyn.
It was hard watching her struggle on her quest for knowledge and self acceptance but imo, a lot less harder than watching her squirm under Rhordyn’s grasp. I will say, towards the end I started to realize the good in what he did and the intentions he had with trying to protect her, but by the time those realizations occur, it’s already too late.
The way this story ended really locked in the rating for me.. I didn’t think she’d actually do it and when it was written out plain to see on the page I was actually shocked and now my heart is conflicted (and I may need therapy

The way this book destroyed me. I cannot even begin to describe.
Watching Orlaith’s journey in this book was a bit like watching a train wreck, but it feels like something she needs to go through to come out the other end.
Kai!!! His story in this was..unique and I’m really interested to see what role he is going to play in all of this.
Rhordyn I am still absolutely in love with.
This whole book had me on edge dying to know what was going to happen next. And I was not ready for the end, but I am desperate for book 3.
