To Snap a Silver Stem by Sarah A Parker

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series has some of the best intricate world building I have ever read. It gives you enough information to keep wanting more while slowly unraveling the past with Oraleith. We slowly get to uncover secrets and get exposed the world as she does, with every heart shattering discovery, you can’t help but keep reading and wanting to find out more. There’s so much left to go in this story and I can’t wait to read book 3. Highly recommend!

Read the first book “To Bleed a Crystal Bloom” on KU! ❤️

Another blonde prince alpha male with red flags I’m running to. (Edit: no I’m not)

The reviews below give me so much rage. This series is beautifully written and works through the main characters trauma and the deception of those around her. Perhaps people should not delve into dark fantasy if they don’t want to hear, read or think about the trigger warnings.

Okay, now this is where it got good! Book 2's rating is a full star higher than book 1 for me.

Previously, in TBACB, I really felt the infantilization of Orlaith, which is why I had a hard time with romance aspects of the book, but the development she goes through in TSASS is transformative. She grows so much, and that was what I liked best, I think. She really became a character I am now fully invested in. What's fun for me is that I still don't know how much I like her. She has flaws, and they're present, but that makes her even more multi-dimensional to me.

I also really loved how the plot unfolded. I wasn't able to predict what would happen, and plot combined with setting felt truly original. I don't want to spoil too much here, but
the twist at the very end literally had me turning pages hoping I would get more clarity in an epilogue, literally stunned
. This is the book of the series that actually has hooked me, and if future books keep this up, I'll be in it. I have to know what happens next for plot.

You’ll want to have book 3 at the ready because this cliffhanger is INSANE
👁️👄👁️ kind of like Orlaith the entire book 😂 She’s angry, spiteful, snarky, and I love it.

We get more backstory through different POVs in this book which has helped fill in some of the blanks. There are still plenty of mysteries to uncover, though.

I am liking Rhordyn more now 🫠🔥 very protective, very damaged, very toxically alluring.

Lowkey the ending ate, I love this turn of events it’s exactly the type of dramatic I like to see in a series especially for the romance plot.

I took a little too long of a break before I finished the last 10% of this book bc I can’t really remember what happened in this book or how I feel abt it how am I supposed to rate it 😭

I like Baze’s storyline and especially his potential love interest, their tension was a toooo good in the little crumb that we got. I don’t particularly care for Kai’s love life but I do like him in general and im curious to see how his plot line on the island will tie into the bigger story. Honestly the first half of the book I had such mixed feelings abt the fmc’s promised (I can’t remember his name now), but that’s a sign of good writing tbh bc it’s like omg who do I root for even tho ik rhordy is endgame.

There were points especially towards the end where I thought the fmc was pretty badass, love that for her, she’s come so far. I’ll still say that the book is pretty slow paced, the plot develops quite slowly same as the first book (thought I understand why it was paced slowly in the first book), but I didn’t particularly mind it.

I actually really like the overall plot of the series, it’s quite different and it actually feels like a dark romance which is amazing because I’ve never read a dark fantasy like this and something tells me this might be a bit unique in how it made me feel.

Edit: I just remember that much early in the book maybe around 30-40%, rhordy enters the chat and I started to really like him because we learn that he’s been stalking her and looking out for her since she came to the east. His pov in general in this book and his actions towards/for the fmc made me actually like him as a love interest (thank god) - granted, his pov in the first book was just vague and confusing and tying to the actual plot, not as much of the romantic aspect so of course I wasn’t rlly a fan of him.
