Beautiful illustrations!

without a doubt the best book i ever read as a kid, i love the idea behind the story and i love to read the book and watch the movie every christmas, its my own tradition!!!!

Last autumn friends from Texas visited. We had a wonderful time, so when they left after two weeks we really missed them. Just before christmas a package arrived with some gifts from Texas. The best part was this Childrens classic. I never even knew it was a book, beside the film. Shame on me.

The Polar Express is a story about a boy who travels to the north pole with the polar express train. He receives the first christmas gift from Santa. And it's a very special gift for true believers:

'I shook the bell. It made the most beautiful sound my sister and i had ever heard. But my mother said, "Oh, that's too bad." "Yes," said my father, "it's broken." When I'd shaken the bell, my parents had not heard a sound. '

It's a magical story, that will appeal to every child. With beautiful illustrations, adding to the christmas mood. Beautiful story. My kids agree. Although i had to translated to Dutch. They now believe in Santa, who normally does not visit The Netherlands.
inspiring lighthearted fast-paced
Loveable characters: Yes

On the night of Christmas Eve, a young boy goes on an adventure with many other children to the North Pole on a steam train. At the North Pole, the children see hundreds of elves and meet Santa Claus and his reindeer. The young boy is chosen to receive the first gift of the year, and he asks for a sleigh bell, which only rings for those who truly believe in the magic of Christmas.

A classic Christmas story that can be shared with the whole family.

The Polar Express has been one of my favorite books since I was very young. It doesn't really feel like Christmas time until I read it. I wish that this magical world was real!

this story will always have a soft spot in my heart.

One of my all time favorite children's books. I even really like the movie too! The illustrations in the book are wonderful and I LOVE the spirit of Christmas. So fun to read with children especially if you have a bell for them and watch the magic in their faces!!!!!!!

Lovely Christmas story, beautifully illustrated. Must remember this next December...

On Christmas Eve a boy struggles to stay awake, intent on hearing the jingle of bells from Santa’s sleigh. What he hears instead are the sounds of “hissing steam and squeaking metal,” and when he goes to the window he sees a train pulled up outside his house! Grabbing his robe and slippers he ventures outside and is just in time to climb aboard before the train sets off for the North Pole.

What a lovely Christmas story; it reminds children (and adults) of the magical power of belief. I wish I could still hear the jingle of bells.

The illustrations are richly detailed. I enjoyed examining each picture, looking for the train as it moves across the landscape. The expressions on the faces of the children aboard the train were marvelous, whether filled with excitement, or consoling the boy on the trip back home.
