Moon Over Soho was a nice follow up to the Rivers of London book, and in a similar manner, was full of pop culture references, London references, and more references to roads that I will never be able to completely picture in my mind's eye.
I really enjoyed the more music focused aspect of this book, especially as I felt it captured more about both Peter and his parents, specifically their interests and his dad's career. The weaving of how magic works in this story felt as though it fit nicely as well.
But some of the magic introduced in the book seemed like the kind a young teenager would dream up as either a comedy effect or a horror fit to scare the rest of his male classmates, I wont say what but you'll know it when you hit the end of the book.

Mainly read/listened to this because I love the narrators voice sooo much.
Good series overall, not amazing but good.
I hAtEd that stupid girlfriend, she was so obviously nefarious from the beginning and I just did not care for her or her story whatsoever. Ugh. Also.. I do not appreciate sex scenes in my fantasy fiction. Ugh ugh.

This is driving me insane bc I love everything about this - compelling mystery plot, intriguing world-building, witty writing, engaging characters - but I keep getting slapped by the author’s unreflective handling of female characters. It’s like watching a Steven Moffat tv show (heavy sigh). If the book was less good, I’d just stop reading it, but instead I will continue to read the series (maybe the more recent books improve in this regard? If Warhammer can do it, so could this guy) and also vent about the Straight Dude writing.
Graphic: Death, Violence, Blood
Minor: Slavery, Police brutality
