This was cool to see what happened before the actual series.

ok now i’ve finally read all 18 lol what a wild ride!! this book was a good way to end it :)

So, still reading because they have them at the library and they're quick. The library finally got this one, so off I went. I thought it would be cool to read a prequel (sort of) from Ali's POV. But this book was just awfully written. So, if you're reading this, you already know most of what I'm going to say (as far as facts of the story), but just in case...SPOILERS. So, originally Courtney gets sent to Radley b/c Ali makes her seem crazy. Courtney comes home for a visit and manages to switch with Ali, sending Ali to The Preserve, leaving Courtney to make friends with the 4. Okay, we see how neither girl is stable in the lease, but Courtney is more so. Okay, except now Courtney is referring to herself as Ali in her narrative. I could even see this if it seemed like more of a conscious choice to show her madness, but it didn't seem that way. This book could also use a continuity editor. Early on, they make a point of mentioning how at The Preserve, they can't do email, internet, etc. Later on, Ali (as Courtney) says she's been emailing a guy she met there, who was moved or released or whatever. Um, what? This entire book was just a MESS.

When you are so into the series one needs to read this but read it only after reading the first two arcs because spoilers alert ahead in this book. This book had everything a fan needs and it is very satisfying.

i think this could have just been a short story rather than a full-blown book. it wasn't really good for me until the very end, which is all the information we didn't know already. like we knew, but we didn't know the details of how it went down exactly. i feel like the whole beginning of the book was repeated quite a bit throughout the series, so going back to read this felt a bit repetitive.

i think if you read this book as the first official book, it gives you good background, but if you skipped it, you don't necessarily need to read it to know anything extra.

My favorite PLL book yet! I loved that this one was all from Ali's POV. Some things that I was confused about in the past books were cleared up in this one. Can't wait to read more.
