Words can’t explain how deeply I need a YouTube series of moral philosophers reacting to this book
READ THIS BOOK LAST!!!!! It spoils a lot including WHO KILLED ALI.
I hated Ali because of this. She's not the kind of friend that I want. But who can blame her? The world made her the monster that she is right now. It's funny cause this happens a lot to all of people, I mean in real life..

It gave us insight on Ali, but I was bored.
The inside of Alison DiLaurentis’ mind is a scary place. Or should I say Courtney DiLaurentis? I will admit while I was reading the original series and got up to “Wanted” when we find out that Alison and Courtney are twins, and that why switched places, I found myself confused. And when the series ended, I still had a few questions. However, this book cleared everything up for me. I constantly found myself questioning which of the twins was more mentally ill. Sure the real Alison killed her sister. But the real Courtney stole her sister’s life. I liked that we got to see Alison’s (a.k.a. Courtney’s) thought processes and experiences that we didn’t get throughout the series, being that she was dead and her secrets died with her. I must say this might have been my favorite of the entire series!
I saw that this was the prequel to the Pretty Little Liars series and decided to read it first, but now I'm thinking I probably ruined the whole series for myself...
I have to admit that I really like this series. It's way better than the show.
I actually really, truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Alison (well really Courtney) is a WAY more interesting character than any of the girls. Shepard did a great job of getting at how incredibly complex she was. Like...maybe she was manipulative, but would she have been as manipulative if she wasn't trying to "be" Alison? There were times where she was so nice and seemed like a good friend, and my heart broke for her when the girls pushed her away, but then her response to them doing so was to just be so awful and manipulative. She felt like a real person that I felt sorry for, and liked, and kind of didn't like all at the same time. I can't believe in ALL of the 16 other books, I never put together that Alison, the real Alison, was the mastermind behind Courtney's initial downfall as well. (Convincing Courtney to pretend to be her so that she could get her shipped off to the loony bin.) I always assumed both twins were kind of crazy, and Courtney WAS a little...but all of that stemmed from having Alison mess her up. I was legitimately sad when she died at the end. I believe Shepard has one more spin off book, but I think that one is from the real Alison's perspective, which should also be interesting, but I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as this one from Courtney/Ali's perspective.
This look into Ali/Courtney's life was actually more intersting than the last 3/4 PLL books. They, like Charlaine Harris's "Sookie Stackhouse" novels, are starting to go downhill as the series drags on. But of course I'll finish off both series just because I've stuck with them this far.
