Maybe I'm a creep, but I thought this was great.

What a strange, strange book. First off, you've got two telepathic brothers ... Why? How? Never explained. Then you've got two incestuous cousins ... And this is YA material? Then there is a world at war. It reminded me very much of reading The Road with its desolation. But then six years pass and it's the end of the book. What happened??? I missed something here.

The writing itself was beautiful. The author does scenery well, but the story line still needs work IMHO.

Really loved this unusual book, which turned out to be totally not what I was expecting!! At no point did I think this was a story about surviving through a war, family separation or an eating disorder. Having said that, it was brilliant. I'd say it's Never Let Me Go for teenagers.
It took a while to let the voice sink in and to adjust to the lack of punctuation marks, but once that settled, I could have spent double the time with the main character and by extension Piper, whose presence was oddly comforting.
The ending was a little rushed, though. I still don't understand how she got back to NYC and what that meant for Piper, left alone?!
The part I didn't like most of all was the incestuous relationship, and the fact that the main character after all her growth through the story seemed to think the relationship is the only thing worth living for. I found that sad. Especially the way that her 'lover' ended up. I desperately wanted her to have a happier ending than just contentment.

I know this is Young Adult, but it's a cracking book. Loved the story, and the heroine, and the supporting characters. Well written, with a good plot, I highly recommend this book.

This young adult story of survival after a catastophic event in the near future is right in my wheelhouse. I loved the details (how will cows be milked if there's no electricity?) but they were things we learned along with Daisy. Not much of a spoiler but I really don't understand why the author made Daisy and Edmond cousins. It didn't add anything to the story except an ick factor. Read it anyway! You will love Piper and Jet!

Good, watch out for cousin sex!
