This book seemed a tad slower than the first. The mates didnt even meet each other for like 5 chapters. But I liked that Kaye was open to the idea of the bond because of her knowledge of Raina’s relationship and that Kala was willing to walk away without claiming her if it meant keeping her safe during the war. Not to mention his dominance kink lol I was kind of expecting Kaye to be preggers at the end since she kind of kept mentioning it. Maybe we’ll see it in the next book. And the Mak Frankie mate reveal! Obviously she’s gonna wake up but the poor sweet man saying he will be by her side till she does 😭 I already know she’s not gonna accept the bond when she wakes up I just hope not a too terribly slow burn lol

Kalla + Kaye = a fun, thrilling, and seductive love story with all the feels! I fell in love with the main and side characters, they had depth and their banter was so entertaining! The world building was top-notch as well. Loved this book!

This book had a lot of potential to be something I would have really enjoyed. I love grumpy damaged heroes juxtaposed against sweet heroines. But the characters just fell flat. The tension and romance felt rushed and undeveloped, even for a fast burn. The dialogue was redundant, characters were often saying the same things back to back. This is the second book in a series and I didn’t read the first. However I should have been able to put together the world easily if there was any decent world building. A 3 star rating means at least I had fun while reading it. What comes to mind is Abby Lee Miller saying “you were good, I’m waiting for you to be great”. I kept waiting for the book to hook me and keep me interested but it just never happened.
