Not my normal read but interesting and well written view of a girl born and  raised outside of contemporary white society and raised on hunting fishing in a native American lifestyle of utilizing  most of what is hunted for food  blankets clothing etc.

This book wasn't quite a mystery or a thriller but not just a regular shmegular fiction read either. I really liked the main character and the trials she faced. I think the piece that was missing for me was more interaction with her husband and children- to really drive home what was at stake for her. It would have upped the ante on how hard it would be for her to go toe to toe with her father and choose her family over him.

Growing up in the Marsh with no understanding of what happened to her mother and why she was there, I liked that she had such a normalized relationship with her father- never knowing that he was a rapist and murderer. It's that "ignorance of childhood" vibe that gave the book a complex twist.

This was all right. The inside cover describes The Marsh King's Daughter as a psychological thriller, but I feel like that's misleading. It's more of an adventure thriller, and is borderline contemporary since it's kind of an outdoor version of Room (if that makes sense). It was such an intriguing concept, but I felt like it dragged too much in the middle. I enjoyed some aspects of it, so I would definitely try another book from this author.

I wanted to like this book but it really felt like a slog getting through it. Characters were hard to connect with, plot line wasn’t that engaging.

This book was totally fine. It starts out right away and is captivating the whole time. I wouldn’t say that it is excellent writing. It goes back and forth between past and present every chapter. So it looses any excitement of the present story. It is intriguing. It is fictional, but so close to many true stories that have happened. So I would have much rather read a true story. Since there are many out there. So that is my 3 star review. Fast read, easy read, captivating.
