This wasn’t the genre of book I typically read, but I loved it. I enjoyed the magical elements and the back in time era. There were also some plot twists I enjoyed as well

Cute idea but more than half the book is exposition and world-building. I was disappointed at how long it took for the murder to take place! The description of the book is very misleading.

Some interesting basic premises, and a reasonably solid plot, but the writing is painfully bad. The author thanks editors and a whole team, but they were pretty much phoning it in. Huge info dumps, page after page of stodgy backstory, and very little sense of drama. I must try to remember ta avoid this writer in future.
