A fun story, but not as tightly written as I would have liked. I will read her subsequent books, though. I think she has fantastic potential!

I really enjoyed this book! It is a laugh-out-loud, quick read that introduces us to Isabel Spellman, a private investigator. Her family is a hilarious group of characters that impact Izzy's life in a chaotic, intrusive way. When Izzy snaps, she decides that the only way to take control of her life to solve one more case - an ice-cold mising persons case - and then quit the family busness. But the case leads to the disappearance of someone she loves. Fans of Janet Evanovitch will love this series! Can't wait to read the next title.

This audio book was a light, entertaining listen. I'm looking to reading or listening to the other books in the series.

This was a fun book to read. I enjoyed it much better once I stopped thinking of it as a mystery and thought of it as a story about a quirky family who are private investigators. I'll be looking for the other books in this series.

A colleague of mine made me read this, and I admit I was hesitant for a while. But this was a fun book - a mix of chick lit and detective novel about a family of private eyes and the mess their profession gets them into. It was genuinely funny and really enjoyable.

A fun book to read. I really enjoyed the mystery, the very very strange family, and learning all the tricks for a private investigator. I'm now a lot more paranoid about how easy it is to track down all sorts of information about a person (if the details are accurate), but otherwise I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading more.

Funny, light read about a family that runs an investigation firm.

Really liked this story...more fiction elements than mystery, but I liked the family. A little like Stephanie Plum novels (Evanovich) but more character development. Will definitely read the sequel.

This month's Book Club picked (chosen by me, on the recommendation of a friend who said she's always wanted to do this one as a book club book).
This was a really fun book. It's not your typical mystery, and it really doesn't feel like the beginning of a series of books. It stands on it's own really well. I thought this would be all about one case that Isabel Spellman is going to work on and solved, The End. However, we learn a lot about Izzy's super crazy but also strangely loving family and really get to understand their family dynamics. I loved Izzy, even if I think her teenage rebellion years (that lasted well into her 20's) were pretty over the top. She's got a good heart. I loved her parents, her siblings (Rae is a awesome!), and even oddball New Uncle Ray (I would have liked Old Uncle Ray just fine, but New Uncle Ray really added color and flavor to the family. Not that they needed it...) Don't read this thinking you're going to quickly read a mystery. Ready this knowing you're going to enter a family and PI business. You'll probably get sucked in and actually really enjoy the insanity of it all.
