Fun, but the ending was a little confused

I wanted to read this after it was advertised in the back of Valley of the Dolls. I got the Virago version which was full of typos which didn't set it off to a good start.
Sally Jay seemed like a cartoon character with all her snappy little catchphrases. At first I found the constant dramatic mood swings interesting, but they quickly became repetitive and exhausting.
The main issue was just that it was so boring. Nothing purposeful really happened til the last 50 pages and even then I couldn't bring myself to care. It was a real slog to get through and I'm happy it's over.

Was in a very small minority at book club who really liked this book. Was a fun "romp" (the only appropriate word). Made me want to go out, make bad choices, not care, and have fun.

A hilarious novel about the trials and tribulations of being 20, bored, and searching for some excitement in your life during a 2 year paid for stint in Paris. Sally Jay is not necessarily a good person, but she is a fun as hell protagonist to follow through the absolute chaos that ensues in this novel.
