The writing style and structure of this book was not what I was expecting and for some reason it just didn't sit well with me. Giving it a 2 since I practially forced myself to finish it. Ugh.

So maybe they could have shaved a few pages from the book over all but I actually appreciated the pacing and the detail present. I listened to it (and will likely listen to the sequel) and enjoyed the experience. Writing is decent, sufficient humor, and smartly done.

First a disclaimer, I really like Heather and Jessica, particularly their work on TWOP and Go Fug Yourself. HOWEVER, there came a point in this book, I think about two-thirds in, when I started to wonder if they hate women? By the time I got to the last third, I hated everyone. First, Lacey, the self-absorbed twin sister, then Freddie and finally, "Bex." I really hate that the writers when for the Cool Girl/Crass American stereotype for her. And then once she finally does become engaged to Nick she's just downright whiny and self-absorbed. But Lacey. Good Gawd. i don't understand how an independent, self-sufficient MEDICAL SCHOOL student turns into a raving biyotch. She really has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I really wanted to like this book more, but it's like 200 pages too long.

I wanted to love this. I am a big fan of book featuring royalty. This book unfortunately was incredibly boring! I had the hardest time caring about anything. I finally reached a point where it was more work to finish the book and no longer worth it.

Enjoyable read although some aspects were over done to dramatise the book that it was almost Murray show quality. Would still recommend it for a good read, just expect the unexpected.

This was really well-written and highly emotional, especially around family ties, but my good god there was just SO much angst and a resolution that really didn’t ... feel like resolution? Also surprise Freddie actually was in love with Bex the whole time?????? I am confusion??? I hope that in some alternate universe Bex and Nick are very happy together and Freddie is too and they’re all in a metric ton of therapy
