A perfect swoony read
Sometimes a book really hits the spot, and this was such a time. This one has a number of tropes: age gap, best friend’s uncle, small town, and some sports theme. I loved that it all felt natural and organic. The emotions and relationships felt real. There was no forced or contrived drama or angst. No secret past jumped out of nowhere to cause a conflict. It was two adults that met unexpectedly and realized they had some chemistry, and both of them figure out how to make it work. Their conflict was natural as a result, and was not some random event thrown in at the third act to make a sweet reunion for a conclusion. They actually communicated like adults. They were fire

Worth the Risk was a cute, quick read. It wasn't quite insta-love, but there was connection and real feelings very quickly. I enjoyed Hudson and Piper's growth from hook up to secretly being together, to eventually a real relationship.
Things I liked:
-The forbidden romance element
-The age gap (which after I realized the age difference I was surprised because 17 years is the biggest gap I've ever read)
-The story really focuses on Hudson and Piper's relationship
-No other woman drama or senseless third act break up
-Any drama is resolved relatively quickly
Things I struggled with:
-Piper was very worried about her friendship with April, but continually lied (in ways that could easily be found out) or put off telling April the truth
-Toward the end Piper started to get very wishy washy about the publicity of the relationship
My only other issue was a few phrases being used repeatedly throughout the story (e.g. people tilting their heads every time they're thinking), but otherwise I'm very glad I got the chance to read a book by this new to me author.
The narrators did a lovely job as well.

Tim Paige and Marie Hawkins was new to me and I've had hard time to feel confortable with their voices but in the end, it was a great duo for this book. Maybe if this was a duet, I would have appreciated it even more.

Coach Hudson Arrows takes any quiet moments he can get because being the head NFL coach in this city was constant noise . Alone at a dive bar trying to relax, when in walks in a stunning women with a lobster umbrella . Instantly hooked + curious about her Hudson does something he normally doesn’t .. flirt . One thing leads to another + after the best one night stand of his life he wakes to find her gone in the morning . So color Hudson shocked when he not only sees the mystery woman again but he finds out that she is his niece’s best friend . Things are about to get interesting .
This was my first book by Evey Lyon + it certainly won’t be my last ! I absolutely loved this book ! It was such a great start to a new series + it has left me so ready for more ! Hudson + Piper were the perfect match for each other . Both wanting what is best for one another + never wanting to hold the either back since they do come from such different worlds . SWOON ! I cannot wait to see what is next for the Lake Spark crew !
This is book one of the Lake Spark series + it can be read as a complete stand alone .
