Really amazing book that gives such a realistic and beautiful view of marriage. Tim and Kathy put it well when they said that they want people to be excited about the beauty and glorifying nature of marriage while also understanding how difficult and gritty it is. Would recommend for anyone regardless of if you’re married or not

Keller gets a 3 stars (OK) for style. The start is its strongest section.
He is mostly accurate on why people are single and looking, and why so many marriages end or are seriously floundering, though he may have oversimplified it.
I don't agree with his male-female roles: I think it has worked for him and may want it to be universally true. It's easier to say that and hope people keep trying it. (Though it is surprising coming from someone who has to deal with reality of pastoring a NY City church.)
I did not find his wife's additions to the book compelling, though. I could speculate on why but won't. (Perhaps more editorial guidance was needed?) It didn't speak to me.

a book to which I will return.

While practical and logical advice was given throughout, for those who are not religious (strongly religious) this book would be extremely tough to get through. One must truly have faith in The Lord and what His plan is, in order to truly love this book.

Per usual, has some pretty good stuff to say until it gets to gender roles and sexual expectations. Will never be cool with someone saying that a person who doesn’t want sex “should give it as a gift to the other person.” That idea historically sets women up for abuse and coercion.
