Super cute, and I love the way that each chapter starts with a text conversation so you still get constant pop-ins from side characters that you love.

Jasper and Sloane my favsssss

I thought this book was so fun and I was really glad to finally be able to read about them. Hockey player x ballerina is such a good combo I'll never get over it. They were such soulmate material it was frustrating to read them just deny, deny, deny, for like 200 pages, but they were in denial so fucking hard it was kinda easy to overlook because they still acted like they were dating. I do wish we got more flashbacks of them as kids but that's because I'm a sentimental little bitch.

Overall, I really liked this book and it was a lot of fun to read.

Jasper and Sloane’s story from childhood until present day was so precious. They’ve always been there for one another, through all of the ups and downs of life and never once steered away from one another, always stuck in each other’s orbit. But finally, after Sloane’s wedding gone wrong, their worlds collide in the most beautiful way. Finally coming to terms with how they feel and have felt for one another all this time. This book was so precious.

This is my favorite in the Chestnut Springs series (but surprisingly most people don't like it ?!). I think the MMC is my favorite of the family, and I really do love the FMC too (Willa may top her though on my list!).

The mental health rep goes hard!! I love to see it, and it was deeply relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment watching these two come undone. The miscommunication sucked, but it is what it is!

Powerless (Chestnut Springs Book 3)(Reread)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

“You always look good to me. Concealer, no concealer. Fancy dress, Harvey’s sweat suit. Smooth hair”—his hand waves over me with a low chuckle—“whatever this is. It doesn’t matter. You’re you.”

I swallow and try my best not to melt onto the floor into a squishy pile of mush. “That’s probably what you tell all the girls, Gervais.”

“Nah, Sunny. You’re my only girl.”

Tropes:
✨Age Gap
✨Friends to Lovers
✨Small Town
✨Hockey Player x Ballerina
✨Road Trip
✨Runaway Bride

Okay y'all! I enjoyed this book so much more the second time around! The first time... honestly I just didn't get the Jasper Gervais hype. But now? I definitely get the hype. This plot is definitely a little bit more on the heavy side emotionally, or should I say, it's deeper emotionally than the previous books.

Jasper Gervais is 🔥😍. This man was the perfect portrayal of an introverted hockey star. I felt so much more emotionally invested and attached to his character this read. Poor guy. He had rough past and had endured his fair share of trauma. But a man that can cowboy and play sports? He has my vote.

And Sloane? My goodness this girl. I was so proud of her character growth thorughout the novel. Proud of how she stood up for herself and went after what she wanted versus doing her "family duty". She was just "Sunny". I also loved her inner dialogue.

I loved these two together so much 🔥😍. Their banter was top tier! Sloane even had me cracking up a few times with her responses to Jasper. I loved that she never gave up on Jasper. She was always there as a supportive force for him. And Jasper? I loved how much he wanted her to succeed in her goals. How protective and supportive her was. How he allowed Sloane to stand up for herself when the time called for it instead of bulldozing in. They just fit together perfectly. The evolution of their relationship and story is so good. They have definitely moved up in the Elsie verse order!

---------------------------------------

“Times have changed, Sloane. I’m not scared anymore. You’re not my f***ing friend. You’re just mine.”

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ [5/5]
Spicy! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ [5/5]

Powerless is book 3 of 5 in the Chestnut Springs series.

📌 You’ll dig this if you like
» Road trip with only one bed 🛏️
» Pro hockey 🥅 + prima ballerina 🩰
» Slow burn feat. small town
» Grumpy cinnamon roll vs. sunshine
» Friends to lovers
» It’s always been you

Honestly, this story has all the tropes, and they were perfect. Powerless continues my obsession with the Chestnut Springs series and the entire Eaton clan.

Jasper was quiet in Flawless and Heartless so I didn’t know if I would connect with him, but holy heck are he and Sloane hot! 🔥 The moment I started to see Jasper’s perspective I was hooked and rooting for him.

Jasper saves Sloane from a marriage she doesn’t want, and they take off on a road trip to escape their problems for a while. Cue forced proximity and simmering attraction that has been brewing for decades.

The slow burn is f’ing delicious and when they do finally get together it is explosive! ❤️‍🔥 💥 🧨 🥵 😮‍💨 🫠

If it isn’t clear, I highly recommend Powerless. It’s no secret I love the whole Chestnut Springs series and I can’t recommend it enough; it lives rent-free in my mind and each book gets better. Elsie Silver is a master. 👑

📌 What stood out
» Harvey Eaton! Champion meddler and pot stirrer! 🏆😂🤣

» Sloane integrates seamlessly with Summer and Willa. The budding friendship is equally comforting and hilarious.

» Sloane’s potty 🚽 mouth when Jasper gets her going is fantastic, and he loves riling her up. His smug pleasure from it, knowing he can bring out the wild in her, made me root for him even harder. He wants her wild, and I love it! 👏

» I love seeing Willa and Summer again, and Willa’s fixation on knowing the size of Jasper’s 🍆 is hysterical.

📌 Moments
» That shower scene!!! Sloane finds out Jasper has a hidden tattoo and demands to see it, with steamy consequences. 🚿🧨😮‍💨🫠 IYKYK
I absently lick my lips and he groans. My gaze snaps up to those navy eyes I know so well. They hold me captive. They’re simmering with a heat I’ve never seen. He’s done a good job of looking at me like I’m a friend, but he isn’t right now.
He’s looking at me like I’m his

» The tie-in for the title made me want to jump up and down and happy scream.
