The parallels Narby discovers between western molecular science and shamanic knowledge is profound. "Myths" and plant knowledge that have been a part of indigenous cultures (especially in the Amazon) for millennia are now both being confirmed by science as well as helping us to look at the science from a new perspective.

I applaud Narby for going where many other scientists and anthropologists don't dare to in his search for answers. What he finds fills me with wonder as I consider its implications on our understanding of consciousness, nature, and beyond.

The research and content are 5/5. However, there were a few moments where I felt a bit disengaged with the writing which is why I give the book a 4/5. I listened to this in audiobook format, so perhaps that negatively impacted the reading experience.

This would be a cool idea if it weren't so hokey. Then again, I read it from the perspective of a molecular biologist.

Bizarre mix of complaining that Darwinism isn't a falsifiable scientific theory and smashing bits of confirmation bias together into a disconnected non-falsifiable non-scientific theory. Disappointing.

2 stars because this would make an epic concept for a sci-fi book.

The Cosmic Serpent (DNA) is narcisistic; or at least obsessed with its own reproduction...even when it comes to the mere imagery of itself.
