One of my favorite reads ever, eager to read more by this author!
Beautifully written, and an interesting interpretation of Helen. A bit stale at times. I wish the focus during the war was more on Helen and the women of Troy instead of the battles that most of us would be familiar with through the Iliad and Odyssey. I'm interested in respond more from the author, as historical fiction is one of my favorite genres.
Oh, I loved this. It did so many things with Helen’s story that I haven’t seen before, and went to such exhaustive detail over all of it. There were some parts of George’s interpretation of the characters and their relationships that weren’t to my own preference, but it didn’t bring the story down for me. It stood on its own right.
Really good but kinda sunk in the middle. Begging and ending were amazing though
Set in a male dominated world/era, Helen of Troy is writtne from the veiw point of Helen.
Gripping, moving, happy, sad; we travel through the book with Helen and feel that we get to know her.
Margaret George transports her readers back in time, beautifully written and captivating.

I read this novel a loooooong time ago, and after picking up Circe, I thought that another perspective might be good!
I loved the depth of research that was done, and how meticulous the story was. However, it definitely draaaaaggggged in places. And it is a BIG book.
All in all, a good read, but honestly? It's just okay.

I love this book and I have read it multiple times. It is well researched and cleverly written. The character of Helen is interesting but I actually found Gelanor to be more intriguing. Unfortunately I think he is from the author's own imagination as I cannot find any mythical reference to him.
I really loved this. Fun story, and lots of history. It drug a little too long, but over all good.
