Excellent biography where the author has brought a mythological character to life. Helen of Troy has a very contemporary voice in a historical context and what makes it a refreshing read is it is modern and ancient at the same time.
At 24 discs, this was a HUGE book, but I felt it was so interesting and well-narrated, that it didn’t seem too long. I learned some Greek mythology to boot. I had to check this out twice, as I was not able to finish it before the due date at the library.

A little too slow in the middle of the book but I still liked the plot and characters. I think the book did not have to be as long as it is. I still enjoyed it

Review: I had a few issues with it - the main one being the fact that the plot revolved around Helen needing to be “saved” from a loveless marriage. (I get it, she wanted out, but there is a way to write that into the story without adding the idea that she needed “saving” from the marriage by ANOTHER MAN.) Two other things that bothered me were how little a role the gods had and the fact that the Greeks were turned into bad guys for the purpose of the story. I was expecting to hate - and absolutely loathe - this book. I love George’s writing style, but with how annoyed I was at The Confessions of Young Nero and The Splendor Before the Dark on top of the synopsis . . . my expectations were dreadfully low. Yet I was pleasantly surprised by this book. As I mentioned at the beginning, I do feel like there were some main issues with the book and storyline, but I do feel like it was a solid retelling of the Trojan War.

Muy interesante y entretenido. Este libro es una excelente y necesaria visión femenina de la historia de la guerra de Troya contada por la propia Helena.
