Love Poems

Pablo Neruda

I wanted to love these poems. Alas, the words “mouth” and “flower” were overused in my sad little opinion. Perhaps Mr Neruda was a splendid spouse, but I’d never want to be compared to such small, delicate, fragile objects. The feminist in me wasn’t thrilled.

Effortless & transcendent beauty

This is a beautiful collection of poems.
emotional

chris read it to me as a bedtime story it counts
reflective slow-paced

What a gorgeous poet! There is a reason he has won the Nobel Prize for literature and man did he love his lover, which comes across so beautifully within his writing. His poems are sensual, loving, and tender, all mixed into one. This Chilean author really packs a punch with his poetry and I look forward to reading more from him.

sadly, the poems in this book did nothing for me, however, the second half was better than the first half. as a poet, i love reading other poets’ work but i found these poems to be borderline basic for lack of a better word. maybe i’ll revisit it in the future to see if anything has changed

This is a poetry collection all about love. Honestly, I could’ve done without him constantly calling his lover 'little'...but I believe that is a translation thing. The comments about her breasts was definitely giving Men Writing Women, or maybe I'm just chronically online. But aside from that, the poems themselves were really beautiful and full of passion.

so feral and earthy and primal I love it
