OK, super great, funny like always, helped me forget that my life is stationed in CrapLand at the moment. So that makes it great, right ?
And did I say I love Dave the Laugh ? Most probably. But let me say it again : I love Dave the Laugh.

Reread 2022 :

Aww cette fin 🥺

Reread 2019 :

Cette fin, aaaargh. Enfin, on approche du but !
Sehr dommage.

In preparation for the eagerly anticipated 8th book in Rennison's Georgia Nicolson series, I reread the first seven books over the weekend. Though I am getting a bit tired of Georgia's red-bottomosity, the books are hilarious--excellent summer reading.

Georgia is a self-centered girl who keeps a diary and struggles with her nutty family, less-than-sympathetic, but very silly friends, and her vicious cat. Meanwhile, she tries to minimize her enormous nose and to keep her basoomas in check as she snogs (kisses) Robbie the Sex God, Masimo the Luuurve God, and oh, let's not forget Dave the Laugh, though she won't take him seriously as he is just a friend (who she accidentally snogs from time to time).

If this series ever ends, I will have a nervy b if she doesn't choose Dave the Laugh. I absolutely love Dave the L's explanation of the Cosmic Horn - and Georgia's got it baaaaaaaaaad.

Here are the books (so far):

Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging

On the Bright Side, I Am Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God

Knocked Out By My Nunga-Nungas

Dancing in My Nuddy Pants

Away Laughing on a Fast Camel

Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers

Startled By His Furry Shorts

Love is a Many Trousered Thing

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone who has ever been a teenage girl (or who has ever wondered what is going on in a teenage girl's head).

Brilliant as always, I could not stop laughing

Comfort reread

Georgia is shallow and immature and truly needs to grow up, but these books are still very funny. Sadly, there's a girl in my year who steals all of Georgia's phrases and words, and everyone thinks she's wonderfully original.
I was slightly annoyed at Georgia moaning about how crap History is, and also how unromatic Germans and the German language is. The most gentlemanly man I've ever met is from Germany, so she clearly is quite biased.
Anyway, a light read and only took me a few hours to get through. It's obvious that Georgia is meant to be with Dave (their levels of maturity match) and I feel kind of sorry for Robbie and Masimo having to put up with a girlfriend who believes that the most important things about them are their looks and how good they are at kissing.

19/01/09: Upon my second reading I've knocked the rating from 5/10 to 4/10. Georgia is so self-obsessed and shallow. I've come to realise that she is the sort of girl who I have to tell off when she's misbehaving in my school library. Yes, I, like Wet Lindsay, am a spoffy prefect. But hey, I'm going to end up with a wonderful, caring boyfriend one day (who cares about the environment and writes thoughful songs) and she'll be stuck with Dave the Laugh, whose only subject of conversation is her breasts!

Despite this, I probably will read the ninth book some day, just because I don't like to give up on a series part-way through.

This one was so good, one of my favorites of the series! Georgia (and I can't believe I'm saying this) actually had to make some tough-ish decisions. I suppose I'm leaning toward Masimo, but I can't forget about Dave the Laugh. I was never than attached to Robbie. Dave the Laugh is probably best for Georgia though. I'll have to go to the library soon to get the 9th and 10th book!
funny

this is a good installment and quite funny. I powered through all 20 of these quickly so things may be running together.

But I LOVED the camping trip bit. Georgia basically did what I would do- put up the tent wrong and then hide all day. I also am feeling like Sven just doesn't get enough appreciation but he is absolutely hilarious.

I'm waaaay older than the target audience for this book now and yet I still find them to be the perfect pick-me-up when my illness flares up and I need an easy, amusing read. Georgia is such a funny character, I can't help but find her endearing even when she is being utterly daft.
