Get your sweet tooth ready for this one!

Fake Dates and Mooncakes is about Dylan, a normal guy, who juggles school, his Aunts takeout, work and fake dating a millionaire's son. Not only is this my fave trope but also cute moment heaven. I was positively suprised about how Chinese / Singaporean cultures play part in this story about acceptance, dealing with losing a loved one and finding your soulmate in between everything.

I recommend this to everyone who just wants to have a good time reading an amazing queer romance and family story.

This book is cute! It may have his fairytale like, unrealistic moments, but I had a great time reading it. The only little downside for me personally was at the end when the new restaurant als got a new name, bc imo the strength and willpower of the family made the name Wok Worries so fitting.
lighthearted

I had a tough time liking the characters. Also, at one point, the main character steps in to play a concerto. He played Vivaldi’s “Winter” Largo. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is not a concerto and it is not Largo. It is the opposite, which is Allegro.  This could have been fact checked in 2 seconds.
lighthearted

Dylan lives with his aunt and cousins above their humble takeout restaurant. While trying to figure out a sure fire plan to help bring in more business, he meets Theo. Theo is a rich kid who needs a fake date to a family wedding. The two strike a deal but neither really anticipated falling for each other.

This was very very cute. I loved the family dynamics and how nervous Dylan was constantly. The stories from Chinese mythology, the Singaporean foods, everything was just nicely layered and helped shape the story around the romance. While I didn't love how fast the two were in love with each other, they had great chemistry. I'm glad there was closure for both families too, that was nice.
