Jordan Ryan used to be the goalie until an injury kept him off the ice. Now he needs to find another team, because Tate isn't going anywhere. Jordan is dedicated to his search until he meets Aynslee Shaw on a plane. Afraid of the distraction, he flees leaving her wondering what happened. I found myself cheering him on in his search for a new team, and his romancing of Aynslee. Of course then I wanted to slap him because he wasn't thinking. That thought illustrates how believable the characters are because of Toni's magic pen. I can immerse myself in her books because they feel so real. Her books are a great escape. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was a cute, quick novella! I really fell hard for these two characters, which is surprising in a novella. But I don't see how you could not love Aynslee and Jordan.

I love how Aynslee kind of hard to be the take charge one in the relationship, and went after him. She knew what she wanted and she did what it took to get it.

My only drawback is, that I wish they would of stayed in Nashville, so i could hear more of their future story together. I hope that Toni somehow works them into her story lines.

Oh my goodness. Aynslee was a breath of fresh air after reading the past 3 incredibly infuriating fmc's from this author. I honestly would have loved a full length of this couple just because I loved them so much.

A little "goody goody" but that worked for the novella format. Toni just rocks, she would be able to write about snails and it would be hot! (no offense to you snail lovers out there!)

Normally I dont read novellas but I love the Assassins series so much I just had to read this. I must admit, this did not disappoint. This book had a couple of word and grammar errors but I am sure it was not the finished product anyway so it did not bother me too much. I loved Jordan and Asylne. It was a cute quick romance read and it makes me so excited for Blue Lines to come out. 5 Stars for this book!

The third time is the charm in Toni Aleo’s Falling for the Backup. Jordan Ryan, the backup goalie for the Nashville Assassins, is trying to figure out his new place on the team and in the hockey world following a knee injury. His focus is on his career despite the chemistry that explodes upon meeting Aynslee Shaw on a plane ride back from Buffalo. Aynslee, completely enamored with Jordan, doesn’t understand why the hottie does not seem to want anything more to do with her. Jordan is able to hold out the first meeting, but how long will he last after running into her over and over again?

Falling for the Backup is a novella that continues Toni Aleo’s Assassins series. You can read this without having read the rest of the series, because she does a good job of writing it as a stand-alone novella. Jordan overall struck me as a gentleman who took a hard hit, both emotionally and physically, who feels as though he should not subject Aynslee to all the baggage and career uncertainty that he is going through. Aynslee is a strong willed female that tries to support Ryan emotionally while watching him navigate his new normal, but will she be included when it is all said and done. Toni Aleo’s insightful characters, with their emotional twists and turns, will give readers a ride as fast paced as the hockey games Jordan plays.
