I don't think I have cackled this much while reading a book (lots due to narrator's confused observations of Catholicism). The last sentence was perfect.

Writing uses short vignettes that lend to humour/comedic timing and prevents the really dark parts from lingering too long. Really enjoyed this book!

unfortunately related to this character a little too much ! I found her dejected, anxious thoughts somewhat comforting, it felt less lonely to read such similar thought processes I myself have experienced. I really enjoyed this book, though I would handle with care!

This was a deeply honest and at times uncomfortably close first hand account of what it is like living with anxiety. From the way it manifests in rumination and makes every day tasks debilitating to the way that it is perceived and dealt with by those around whom it affects. Really enjoyed delving in Gilda’s conscience and hope for nothing but happiness for her character.

This book was at times deeply uncomfortable, but I think that’s what the author was going for. It sparked thoughts about how we can do so much better as a society when it comes to people facing mental illnesses.

this is a quick, engaging read but good lord is it miserable. it’s uncomfortable and all over the place and the vignettes bounce around like pinball, though i acknowledge a lot of this is on purpose. i found a lot of it bordered on misanthropic and the ending speeds through tying loose ends like a bullet train. i didn’t hate it but i didn’t really like it either.

this made me cry! really good at getting you into the protagonist’s head and understanding the way she processes things and why she acts the way she does. i maybe wish some of the characters had been expanded on a bit more (especially eli, maybe also ingrid) and the last part felt a little short to be the ending for how intense the previous part was. overall really made me feel a great deal
