This was a deeply honest and at times uncomfortably close first hand account of what it is like living with anxiety. From the way it manifests in rumination and makes every day tasks debilitating to the way that it is perceived and dealt with by those around whom it affects. Really enjoyed delving in Gilda’s conscience and hope for nothing but happiness for her character.

This book made me question whether I actually have anxiety. I mean I do, and some of what our MC went through was relatable, but man oh man some of it was so far beyond me. Gilda makes a million horrible, misguided choices. Then never even tries to explain herself. I both get it and don't; my personal experience with anxiety has me over explaining constantly and anxious how others perceive me (which does not help me be more clear, at all). I know everyone's journey is different, I just didn't super heavily vibe with this portrayal the way I did with, say, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.

The only characters I really liked were Eleanor and Jeff.

It was very good, inquisitive book about life. As someone with mental illness I felt very seen and represented. At times it was hard to read because it felt a little too real

Probably one of the most relatable books I've read
(maybe don't read it if you're feeling particularly anxious or depressed)

Everyone in This Room Will Someday be Dead could very well become one of my top recommended books. This story talks (shocker) about death and our individual relationships with death. But like any extreme... We cannot fully appreciate the magnitude of something like death without concurrently appreciating it's opposite... Life. And THIS, this is what I think this book does so well. In ruminating, almost obsessively, on death and dying, we are pushed into thinking about life, meaning, love and community.

It's hard to describe just how closely and acutely this book follows the thoughts of a severely depressed person. From Gilda's perception, we see the world through an expansive range of emotions. It is as if the entire spectrum of human feeling is laid out for us through her scattered internal monologue. It is both comforting and extremely uncomfortable, showing the rich dichotomy of what it means to be alive.

"I can't believe that I'm alive.
I can't believe that I can believe anything." 😭❤️

Oh my god I just wish you were smiling.

Now, do you ever think about how people might wish that for you?

Beautiful stream of conscious novel. You have to be in the right mindset to read this. It’s dark and funny and a little heartbreaking all at once. The ending feels a little abrupt, but it’s still a joy to read.
