Verity turns into a dragon and leaves his dear wife to run the kingdom on her own, after all she did to find him? Tragic. I was as weirded out as Fitz was when Verity uses his body to get Ketrikan pregnant.
Fitz has no happy ending, and I think that’s what upsets me the most. We’ve followed his self-sacrificial butt across 3 books and like 60 hours-worth of reading and he’s left alone in the final chapter, with no fool, no Molly, no Barage, no Nettle, no Chade, just his wolf and some kid that gets dumped on him… and his broken and scarred body.

Good conclusion to the trilogy. The traveling becomes a bit tiring and monotonous in the back half of the novel, but many great character moments and interactions compensate for that. Nighteyes and the Fool being the particular standouts. Especially the Fool who I really came to love with this book, and I understand why he's so beloved. I'm excited to see how his relationship with Fitz develops in the rest of the series.
My main gripe is really the pacing and the extension of the traveling. Hobb seems to really struggle with dragging at certain points in her books. But the plot was far more focused out of the three books which I appreciated.
Altogether this is probably my favorite of the Farseer trilogy, and I'm now fairly excited to continue reading Realm of The Elderlings.

The simplest way for me to review this is to say I do not particularly enjoy Robin Hobb's writing, but I do like her mind for stories. Typically her style is just too drawn out for me and slow paced. If not for that, I think I would enjoy this series as a whole much much more.
