I couldn't put this book down. Another amazing Mansell!

Cute chick lit book but really quite predictable.

i finished the book, and i have to say, i really love this book, between all of jill mansell books i've read (ofc in real life, this is my first time using goodreads), this has to be the best one i've read so far. i can't wait for more!!

You know exactly what you are going to get with a Jill Mansell novel!

I'm in stitches. Best book ever.

Jet another great book from Jill Mansell.
Every time I read one of her books, I fall into her universe and no matter how far apart the main characters and my own feeling and experiences are, I always cringe, sigh and cry with or on behalf of them. I want to read and reread all of her books, This book is no different, so incredibly sad in the beginning and even after just reading it I have absolute no idea how it became so happy and normal in the end. and to everyone out there about to read it or in the middle of it: You have to read the epilog!!!

Jill Mansell is one of my favourite authors, I'm always desperate to get my hands on her books. In this novel we meet Ellie, whose husband is killed in a car accident and she's trying to move on. In addition to her story there is Tony's (her famous father-in-law) and Roo's (ex-punk rocker and best friend).

Within the first two chapters I was in tears. I didn't expect the death to happen in the story and assumed we'd just be told everything through Ellie. I think that it was a great idea to include it because then we can feel more sympathy for her and quickly grow to like her, wanting her to be happy. I really liked Ellie as a character, despite his death she'd continue to see him however she recognised it wasn't him and after a while she stopped putting her life on hold. We see her try new relationships and get a new job - trying her best to move on. This was the main story and also my favourite out the three.

Then there was Roo's, I found her childish and hard to like. I'm pleased she had a level headed friend like Ellie to sort her out but that wouldn't always work because she was so stubborn. Despite not liking her I was still interested in her story with the married man and what would come of it. Lastly there's Tony, I really liked him and his story with Martha, however it seemed a little pointless and I soon forgot about it as the other two stories continued and was only reminded of it at the end. Although I'm pleased it was brought back at the end and not just left where it was.

I have read a few of Mansell's books before and no doubt I'll be reading more of them again but I don't think that I'll be re-reading this, at least not any time soon. Where I did enjoy this book, there weren't any twists to keep you reading and there were a few pointless events too. Not one of her best but it's still enjoyable, if this is the first book you read by her make sure you pick up some of her others too.
