I picked up this book because 1. it was mentioned on a Dramione IG account regarding the descriptions of the two main characters, and 2. the image on the cover reminded me of Ghibli's "Castle in the Sky."

After reading it, I realized surprisingly that 1. the characters bear almost no relation to Draco and Hermione, and I did the book a disservice going into it with strong preconceptions, and 2. the feeling of the book (as told from Ophelia's point of view) was actually quite similar to the feeling I got from Sophie in [b:Howl’s Moving Castle|6294|Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl’s Moving Castle, #1)|Diana Wynne Jones|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1630502935l/6294._SX50_.jpg|2001] (moreso the book-Sophie than the Ghibli-Sophie).

There was one major plot point which.. I didn't really understand? It was so bewildering that I thought maybe I skipped over a section by accident reading while tired. But from the other reviews on this book it wasn't just me. XD

It ends quite neatly, just cleanly enough to feel pretty good as a stand-alone, but open enough for me to want to start the next book right away because I'm very curious how the mystery in the frame of the book is going to come into play.

3.5 stars. This is a somewhat strange story, but I think I like it. I like the world the author has created, and the characters are well constructed. I think the book lacks some emotional elements, and there are some holes I can't quite put my finger on; however, I'm still invested enough to read the second book to see where it all goes.

Loved this, solid feminist ending. Excited for the next one.

È un crescendo. Migliora man mano che si va avanti. È un fantasy che non classificherei come teen (come trovato in libreria). Ha delle tematiche molto più profonde di quello che mi aspettavo. Non vedo l’ora di leggere il seguito

just not for me. i had to ask myself "if something was to happen to any of the characters right now, would i care?"... my answer was no. i felt no affection nor care for the main characters, the world building was unique and the writing was plausible... but the plot felt too slow.

absolutely so much fun i’m GAGGED

This was fun! YA without feeling cheesy or juvenile, more just based on the age of the characters and speed of the plot. Along with that more than a few things happened that were a bit too good to be true, but I suppose that balances out with the misfortunes that also befall the main character. Rating bump for the unique world building that I'm looking forward to seeing expanded.
