mysterious tense slow-paced

The pinnacle "mousy academic goes on an adventure" book series.

Also the 🤌 excellent slow-burn opposites-attract arranged-marriage trope that builds over the whole series with an extraordinary authorial patience that I APPLAUD.

I'm still waiting on a few books, but that TENSION. I love it more than spice, tbh, because it feels more like a tightrope walk.

And the world building RUUULES.

I do wish the plot was more about her being a reader and learning more about the fascinating world building vs her disguised as an ugly dude the majority of the time lol
