This book is supremely boring and something about the writing is extremely grating. Furthermore, almost a quarter in and the story is nonsensical. I don't know why I'm struggling so much with it, because the synopsis sounds interesting and I initially picked it up because it had rave reviews. But I can't stand it; reading this novel feels like pulling teeth. I flipped to the end and read the last chapter to see if it all's worth it. The last chapter is just as nonsensical and boring as everything I've read through so far. Extremely disappointed with how much I dislike this book :(((

For a book full of characters with really interesting powers, this is so unforgivably boring. It's almost impressive anyone could make palace intrigue this uninteresting.
