1980s Bath and London, myths and powers, snippets of history, main characters who are genuinely nice to each other - cosy, with cakes and cross-dressing, eccentricities and quirks, what's not to like?
Didn't grab me as much as the first one, but I do like the setting and characters.

Not as enjoyable as the first book but still a delightful universe. Wish there had been more character development (love Merlin's banter with anyone/everyone) and fewer logistics (police missions etc) but will likely read the next book (if there is one).
I love the way Garth Nix throws you straight into the action, and also love his highly original worlds, including this one.
